It is my pleasure to welcome your family to our 2017 Sounds of Summer (SOS) Program at First Baptist Academy. We will begin our program on June 5 and conclude at 12 noon on August 4. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We will be closed on July 4th.
We pray that your child’s experience at First Baptist Academy will be one of joy and contentment as they learn through example and lessons how the Lord Jesus Christ can be a meaningful part of their daily lives.
Attached is the June menu from our caterer “Matter of Taste”. You must put money on your child’s account for hot lunches and milk or you can have your child bring a sack lunch instead. Please note that we are not able to refrigerate or heat student’s lunches. Hot lunch is $4.75 and $.45 for white milk per day. Hot lunches are ordered promptly each day at 9:00 a.m. If your child will be arriving on campus after 9:00 a.m. you may place a hot lunch order by phone.
We have a security system installed at the glass doors under the portico by SOS. The code to get into the door is available to families only. Please call 210-658-5331 to get code.
You will sign your child in and out each day electronically on a lap top computer located on the white table in the SOS hallway. Students will have a unique ID number and card that will need to be scanned at pickup and drop off. New students - Your ID cards will be available for pick-up on June 5. Current FBA students – you can continue to use the same cards you are using now for ELS. If you need additional cards, please let us know and we can print them for you.
You will receive a monthly newsletter from your child’s teacher on the first day of the program. Also, planned field trips will be included in this newsletter. We do not take the 3 year olds, 4 year olds, or Kindergarten classes off campus. The 1st-8th grade classes however, will leave campus every Thursday for an exciting field trip. These field trips are an extra cost of $8 each, and you will need to bring the money on the day of the field trip. This money needs to be in cash. Students going on the field trips will need to wear an official SOS t-shirt. These will be available for purchase starting the first day of SOS. Students may wear their shirts from last year, or purchase a new one.
Our Sounds of Summer Program handbook is posted on our school website at www.fbauc.com. Please read this handbook before the first day of your child’s attendance. If you have any questions after reading the handbook, myself or one of my Assistant Directors, Mrs. Cindy Parker or Mrs. Mavis Woodard, will be happy to answer all questions you might have.
During the summer months your childcare tuition will be posted to your account the first day of each month and it will be due in full by the 10th of that particular month. Daily rate and/or hourly fees are due when you pick up your child at the end of each day your child attends. Weekly fees are due by Monday of the week your child is in care. If you registered your child for any of the extra classes offered (My Art Starz, Dance & Tumble, or TOTs), and have not yet paid, all payments are due by June 5.

Splash Day Information
“Splash Day” is a water activity play time we will have every Friday. Preschool & Kindergarten will splash from 10:00-10:45, and 1st-8th will splash from 1:00-2:00.
Wear your swimwear to SOS. Girls – modest one piece swim suit, under their clothes. Boys – swim trunks and t-shirt.
Wear your socks and tennis shoes to SOS, bring water shoes or flip flops to change into for splash time.
Bring a beach towel, a change of clothes (including shirt, shorts, underwear, and socks), and a plastic bag for wet clothes.
Apply sunscreen at home
Preschool and Kindergarten Students Only
Preschool and Kinder students will have a naptime (or rest time) every day, and need to bring the follow items:
Waterproof mat: Size 1”x19”x45”. Because of limited storage space, mats larger than the required size will not be allowed. Walmart does carry the required size mat, called a “Kindermat”, for $9.97.
Small blanket, 4’x3’ and a small pillow
Small stuffed animal
Blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals will be sent home every Friday for cleaning. Remember to label all of your child’s belongings.
Students will also need to bring a change of clothes in a plastic bag to leave in their classroom in case of an accident or spill. Please label your child’s bag and the clothes inside. Be sure to include underwear and socks.
SOS Dress Code
Students may wear comfortable, summer clothing. Please keep in mind that we play, explore, create, and at times make messes, so dress accordingly.
Dress code guidelines:
TENNIS SHOES ONLY. Boots, sandals/flip-flops are not permitted. Exception - students may bring sandals/flip-flops to change into for Splash Day.
Modest clothing – Students may not wear: spaghetti straps, halter tops, short tops (crop tops, or midriff showing). Shorts must be modest in length.
Students are expected to us the restroom facilities and dress themselves. Remember to dress your student appropriately.
