CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONICS POLICY

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Prov. 4:23

Cell phone use is not permitted once a student is on the FBA campus or during FBA sponsored activities where students are under the direct supervision of FBA faculty or staff (i.e. bus/field trips, retreats, etc.). A student may use his or her cell phone to call a guardian/authorized person for pick up only with permission from FBA faculty or staff. Cell phones must be turned off and kept out of sight in a locker, back pack, or purse, and may not be carried in clothing/pockets.

Electronic devices from home (e.g., iPods, iPads, tablets, laptops, gaming devices, etc.) are not permitted on the FBA campus unless required by student Learning Accommodation Plan (LAP) or pre-approved for teacher-monitored class activity.

Any cell phones or unapproved electronic devices that are visible, ring, or make audible sounds, will be taken from the student by faculty or staff and placed in the principal’s office. The student may retrieve his or her cell phone/electronic device at the end of the day along with the following consequences per semester:

  • 1st occurrence: $25.00 fine to be added to the child’s account and

    “FDC” mark in discipline system

  • 2nd occurrence: $25.00 fine and ISS

  • 3rd occurrence: Saturday School

  • More than 3 occurrences: OSS or possible Expulsion

With each occurrence, the student found in violation of this policy will be required to review and sign this policy agreement.

Parents are advised to please contact the school office with any messages that they may have for their child. We ask that you do not text or call your student while he or she is at school. During the school day, FBA approved computers are to be used only under the direct supervision of a teacher for an assignment in the classroom.

In a world of growing technology, we must partner together to encourage self-discipline, protect teachable minds, and maintain safe boundaries.

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you…For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (self-discipline). II Timothy 1:6-7

  • The link below is to Family Education website which has good information for parents and teachers. This specific link summarizes some of the top phone apps students/children are using. It is very informative and enlightening. This is a good resource to help keep our parents and our teachers informed. The more we all are aware and educated, the more we can communicate to and protect our students, and the more we can possibly help students avert potentially “sinister” doors to unhealthy, unsafe and ungodly activities.
