TAPPS Vocal Competition and Spring Schedule – Spring 2016
Please read carefully as there are some changes this year in competition venue and schedule.
Thursday, March 3 – 3:45-4:45 – Extra Men’s Choir Rehearsal (in addition to the morning of Wednesday, March 2)
Thursday, March 10 –Pre-TAPPS Solo and Ensemble Competition: See details below.
Thursday, March 24 – FBA Voice Recital featuring all soloists and 9th grade small ensemble – 4 p.m. in the Peace Auditorium
Wednesday, March 30 – TAPPS State Solo and Ensemble: See details below
Monday, April 4 –Treble Choir rehearses with accompanist 8th period
Tuesday, April 5 – Men’s Choir rehearses with accompanist 8th period
Wednesday, April 6 – Pre-TAPPS Large and Sacred competition: See details below
Tuesday, April 19 – 10th grade treble ensemble sings for devotions (warm up at 7:15 a.m. in G213)
Tuesday, April 19 - Evergreen Luncheon Concert (TAPPS pre-show J)
Thursday-Saturday, April 21-23 – TAPPS State Vocal/Instrumental Competition (location TBA). Just like last year, we will leave FBA Thursday, compete Friday and stay over Saturday for the instrumental competition. Details below.
- Thursday, May 5, 7 p.m. (warm up 6:15) – Spring concert and awards presentation in Peace Auditorium
Pre-TAPPS Solo and Ensemble Competition – March 10
Our pre-TAPPS Solo & Ensemble Competition will be in-house on Thursday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (exact schedule TBA). Students signing up for solos will have their accounts charged a one-time fee of $15 for accompaniment. If this fee is a hardship for you, please just email me and let me know so the choir can help with this expense.
Students should be in the choral suite that day at 9 a.m. in their concert attire. We will be ordering box lunches from Subway and each account will be charged $7 to pay for this meal. If you prefer that your student bring a lunch from home, please indicate on the lunch order form which will go out the week before the event and you will not be charged. If you can chaperone for this event, please indicate on the attached form.
Unlike past years, the only students participating on this day will be those doing small ensembles (the 9th Grade Treble Ensemble) or solos. Other choir members will have a regular school day.
TAPPS State Solo and Ensemble Competition – March 30
TAPPS State Solo & Ensemble Competition will be at St. Mary’s University on Wednesday, March 30 with exact schedule TBA. We will need to leave the school early (probably around 7:30 a.m.) and return around 6 p.m.—but I will have a more exact schedule that I will email as soon as TAPPS gives it to me. I need at least 2 chaperones for this event. If you can chaperone for this event, please indicate on the attached form.
Students should arrive that day at in their concert attire. We will ride together to St. Mary’s on the school bus, and lunch/supper details are TBA depending on our schedule and lunch availability on campus.
Pre-TAPPS Sacred/Large/Sight Reading Competition – April 6
Our pre-TAPPS Sacred/Large/Sight Reading Competition will be in-house on Wednesday, April 6 from 8:10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (exact schedule TBA). The entire choir will be participating in this event. J
Students should be in the choral suite that day at 8:10 a.m. in their concert attire. We will be ordering box lunches from Panera and each account will be charged $10 to pay for this meal. If you prefer that your student bring a lunch from home, please indicate on the lunch order form which will go out the week before the event and you will not be charged. If you can chaperone for this event, please indicate on the attached form.
TAPPS State Sacred/Large/Sight Reading Competition – April 21-23
We will leave Thursday after choir and band rehearsals. Actual departure time will be @3:30, but students will be in rehearsals and/or loading coach bus during 6th-8th period
Friday will be vocal competition (all day). Students will not be missing school since this is Fiesta Holiday.
Saturday will be instrumental competition (all day).
We will return Saturday after instrumental competition
I will send out more details (venue/hotel location and information) as soon as it is available. Again, if you can chaperone for this event, please indicate on the attached form.
